We picked up our group at a local area Hotel in Austin, Texas and headed out for the Dripping Springs Wine Trail, just a short 40 minute drive from downtown, Austin. Awaiting us were more than seven award winning wineries, an award winning olive company and several award winning restaurants! What a great way to celebrate a Bachelorette hill country wine tour!
We picked our 40th Birthday party guests up at the Sunday House Hotel in Fredericksburg, Texas. What a wonderful group of folks ready to explore the Hwy 290 wine trail. First stop William Chris, for a private wine and barrel tasting hosted by Chris, one of the winery owners. In the photo below Chris is pouring the 2012 Enchante from the stainless steel tank. The Enchante is almost ready for bottling with a release date of Mid-December. The 2nd stop was by private appointment at Lewis Winery. Lewis will be releasing their white wines in two to three weeks and their reds, currently available, are exceptional. Onward to the Pink Pig for lunch! The two afternoon wineries we visited were Becker for a Private Tasting, followed by another tasting at Pedernales Cellars in their private tasting room. A Fredericksburg Wine Tour—a great way to uncork a 40th Birthday in the Texas Hill Country.
The Bachelorette Wine Tour Celebration began with a pickup at a Downtown Hotel. We were on the road by 11:00 am to enjoy a wine tour on the Dripping Springs Hill Country Wine Trail. First stop the Texas Hill Country Olive Company to taste award winning olive oils and to taste their newly released red wines. Then onto Bell Springs for an outdoor wine tasting-stopping for lunch and a full wine tasting of their popular BBQ Red and BBQ White wines. Our final stop was Driftwood Winery to enjoy their wine and spectacular view. WOW!
Discover Texas Wine Tour embarks on another Hill country wine tour adventure. It was 10:30am and time to hit the Dripping Springs Wine Trail. First stop Bell Springs Winery, then onward to the Texas Hill Country Olive Company. It’s mid afternoon, and time for another tasting and lunch at the Salt Lick Cellars in Driftwood. Once we arrived our group was seated on their large wood deck nestled under a 100 year oak tree for a wine tasting Salt-Lick-Style. After being served our tasting table side by Cellar Master Jennifer. Our wine tour group had the unexpected pleasure of meeting Scott Roberts the owner of the world famous Salt Lick BBQ Restaurant. Next, Scott had a Brisket brought directly from the pit to our table. Scott shared a personal favorite brisket pairing. It was delicious…YUM!
What a fantastic time! Organizing a full day wine tour for 50 people in the Texas Hill Country may not sound like an easy task, but Noel at Discover Texas Wine Tours made it smooth and most importantly, unforgettable. His main goal is to make sure everyone is comfortable and has a good time! Most companies were not able to host a group this size, but Noel made it happen. He made sure our bus was the best he could find, worked to have a lunch catered for us at one of the stops, set up private tastings with many of the wineries to accommodate a group our size, even stopped to let one of the guys who didn’t drink wine buy some beer. I can’t say enough good things about Noel and how hard he worked for our group. I highly recommend him and look forward to another tour with him soon!!
